Remember that, just like in apartments and other real estate rentals, the contents of your rental space are not insured by the landlord (self-storage facility). Therefore, it is your responsibility as a tenant to insure your stored goods. For a small additional expense, tenant insurance will cover losses due to events beyond the self-storage facility's control such as burglary and natural disasters.
